The Edmundston region remains at the RED Level struggling with a significant outbreak of COVID since the beginning of the year. The region was forced into a LOCKDOWN January 24 as cases soared including outbreaks in nursing homes in the area.
The region came out of LOCKDOWN to the RED Level on February 08th but case numbers remain strong. Yesterday there were 15 new cases in the region including 12 in a nursing home.
As of yesterday – the Edmundston region had 127 of the 160 active cases of COVID in the province. The Moncton region reported 19 active cases – here in the Saint John region we have 4 actives – the Fredericton River Valley region is reporting 7 – the Bathurst region has 3 while the Campbellton and Miramichi regions have no active cases. All other regions of the province are in the Orange Level.
Public Health says a total of 1398 cases of COVID have been confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic last March with 1215 recoveries. The pandemic has claimed the lives of 22 New Brunswickers.
