Another day of double digit COVID case increases. Public Health reporting 12 new cases since yesterday – all in the hotspot Edmundston region. All but two are related to contacts with previous cases. There is no indication from Public Health if the latest cases are the U-K variant of COVID.

Public Health says one person has been listed as recovered since yesterday. The number of active cases has jumped to 110 – 86 in the Edmundston region and 6 here in the Saint John region. Five people are in hospital while the number of COVID related deaths remains at 30.

Meantime – a positive case has been confirmed at Ecole Mgr-Lang in Drummond. Students – staff – and families have asked to self isolate until Monday to allow for contact tracing. The school is closed and students will be doing distance learning until Wednesday – April 07th.

Parts of the Edmundston region remain at the RED Level while the rest of the province is in the Yellow Level of recovery.
