Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says our daily COVID case count has hit the highest daily total in two months. Russell is reporting 30 new cases today – 24 of them in the Edmundston region where community spread involving the U-K variant has been confirmed. Here in Saint John – 5 new cases are being reported – all travel related. There is also one new case in the Bathurst region.
The number of active cases in the province has jumped to 89 including 6 here in the Saint John region and 58 in the Edmundston region and 3 people are in hospital. Three people are listed as recovered since yesterday. The COVID related death toll remains at 30.
