Public Health is making it official – after several cases being confirmed – an outbreak of COVID has declared at the Edmundston hospital. The move was taken after three workers tested positive combined with three patients with COVID-19 were admitted.

The hospital has suspended all visitations with the exception of palliative care – maternity – and pediatrics until further notice. The Emergency Department is handling urgent cases only. Patients with appointments may enter the hospital but will have to follow Public Health measures.

The outbreak was declared on the same day it was announced the entire province was back to the Yellow recovery level after the Saint John region was cleared to move from Orange to Yellow. The region had been in Orange following a spike in cases in mid-November including an outbreak at the Shannex seniors complex in Millidgeville.
