A COVID Update news conference has been scheduled for this afternoon at 2:30 with Premier Blaine Higgs and Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell. Earlier this week – both Russell and Higgs indicated Public Health would be presenting an outline of restrictions under a total “lockdown” scenario if required to control the spread of the virus.
Premier Higgs said we could be going into a “lockdown” by the end of the week if it didn’t appear any progress was being made on bringing the number of new cases under control. The Moncton – Saint John – Fredericton River Valley – and Edmundston regions are currently in the RED Level. As of yesterday – there were 317-active cases in the province with 2-people in hospital – one of them in intensive care. There have been 13-deaths related to COVID since the pandemic began last March.
