Chief Medical Officer Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says a person in their forties in the Moncton region has died as a result of complications including COVID-19. When asked by a CBC reporter if this is the youngest person to die of COVID – Russell declined to answer and cited privacy concerns for not providing other details related to the death.
Russell also says there are three new cases of COVID confirmed in the past 24 hours – all in the Moncton region. Two of the cases – a person in their thirties and one in their sixties – are close contacts of a previous case that is travel related. The other is a person in their twenties and that case is undergoing contact tracing.
Three people have been declared recovered since yesterday. We now have 33 active cases in the province including two in our region. One person is in hospital.
