Common Council is onboard with support for a funding application for the proposed conversion of the former St Vincent’s High School to a mixed income residential development.
Council last night voted to send a letter supporting the bid by Housing Alternatives to secure funding under the Rapid Housing Initiative through Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation:
If approved for funding – the project would likely be divided into two phases with the first phase being the school converted into 30 apartment units. Work on the affordable housing aspect of the plan covered by the federal funding must be completed within 12-months. The second phase with the additional 30-units would get underway late next year.
