The Glen Group from Fredericton has been awarded the contract for architectural services for the revitalization of Loyalist Plaza and extension of Harbour Passage around the waterfront of the Fundy Quay development. It also includes design of a new pedway connecting Market Square to the new development. The contract is worth 1.4 million dollars.
The design work will include a public consultation aspect and discussions with Market Square businesses along the Boardwalk. Discussions with the businesses has already started.
Deputy Mayor Shirley McAlary asked if previous work on proposed upgrades to Loyalist Plaza would be incorporated. Jeff Cyr of the new Greater Saint John Economic Development Agency says a lot of things have changed since those proposed upgrades – but – some engineering aspects may be used in the new design concept.
