Common Council has approved an agreement to close off part of South Market Street for a four month period. The closure will provide a buffer zone as demolition begins on the former Bargain Shop/Woolworth building at 91 King Street and the building next door at 85 King. Saint John Developer Percy Wilbur is planning to build a multi-residential complex with street level commercial space.

Council has also approved final reading of a Zoning By-Law change and Municipal Plan amendment allowing for development of a 185-unit multi-residential building at 300 Sydney Street across from Tin Can Beach. Parsi Development expects The Landmark will cost in the vicinity of $32 million. With the approval of the zoning change – planning and costs will be finalized.
