Preliminary numbers from the provincial Vital Statistics Office show 5403-babies born in the province this past year. And those numbers show an almost even split in the sexes with 2579-girls and 2824-boys.
The Vital Stats office says the most popular name for a girl this year is Olivia – taking top spot for the fourth year in a row. Amelia and Emma placed second and third.
For boys – Liam is taking top spot for the most popular name this year. Noah and Jack came in second and third as top name choices.
