The Higgs government says efforts to fully vaccinate all Long Term Care residents in the province against the COVID virus are nearing completion. The latest update shows 75% of Long Term Care homes have completed “Dose 2” clinics with the remaining homes to be completed by the end of this month.

In addition – the Department of Social Development reports more than 63% of Long Term Care workers have received their first dose of a COVID vaccine. And the department says almost 36% of L-T-C workers have received both doses of a COVID vaccine.

On a provincial level – as of yesterday just over 278,800 New Brunswickers have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine. Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says we are still on track to have every New Brunswicker wanting a shot to have received at least one dose by the end of June. She says with the current pace of vaccine supply – all New Brunswickers will have received both doses of vaccine by September.
