Ethos Ridge Retirement Community site plan

The proposed luxury retirement development on Sandy Point Road is running into some stiff opposition from residents. The Ethos Ridge development would see 120 luxury retirement units constructed on a site at 2100 Sandy Point Road. The group unveiled its proposal to Common Council last month.

The development would require an amendment to the Municipal Plan and rezoning. Council sought public input and has received a total of 62 responses with 56 against – 5 neutral – and 1 in support. Concerns include increased traffic – impact on wells – storm water impact on existing properties – impact on wildlife – and doesn’t fit with character of the area.

A staff report on tomorrow night’s agenda is recommending Council send the proposal to the Planning Advisory Committee for review and recommendation while setting a date for a public hearing next month. Council also has the option to deny the application at this stage.
