84-year old Pauline Gauvin was first New Brunswicker to receive Pfizer COVID vaccine.

The first COVID vaccine clinics in the province ended up with surplus doses of the Pfizer vaccine. The province received 1950-doses in its initial shipment. Weekend clinics at the Miramichi Hospital saw 1871-people receive the first of two shots. Those people were in the top priority groups – front line health care workers and seniors in nursing home and assisted care facilities in the Miramichi – Bathurst – and Moncton regions.

The provincial government says the remaining vaccine will be given to front line health care workers and workers in long term care facilities in Miramichi.

More doses of the vaccine are expected this week and a clinic is being planned for the Moncton area next week.
