The Saint John region which covers most of the southwestern part of the province has recorded the fourth highest COVID case count since the beginning of the pandemic last March.

Public Health figures as of yesterday show the region has posted 222 confirmed cases of COVID. The Edmundston region leads the case count with 398 cases – most of those coming since the beginning of this year. The Moncton region has the second highest count with 332 cases while the Fredericton River Valley is third with 238 confirmed cases. The Campbellton region has recorded 182 cases – the Bathurst region 27 – and the Miramichi region 8 cases.

There have been 7 COVID related deaths in our region – that is the second highest number of deaths in the province. The Edmundston region has recorded the highest number of deaths – 10 as of yesterday. The Campbellton region has reported 4 deaths and the Moncton region has recorded 3 deaths. The Fredericton River Valley – Miramichi – and Bathurst regions have not reported any COVID related deaths.
