The Saint John region remains in the Orange Level with two new cases of COVID being reported today. One of those cases involves a resident at the Shannex complex in Millidgeville. The complex has recorded 17-cases of the virus including six employees.
The two new cases involve a person in their sixties and a person in their nineties. The other cases in the province today include a person in their sixties in the Edmundston area and a person under 19 in the Moncton region. All new cases remain under investigation. The number of active cases in the province has declined 82 with two people in hospital – one in intensive care. There have been 7-deaths related to COVID since the pandemic was declared in March.
Meantime – NB Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – and – Premier Blaine Higgs announced the Moncton and Fredericton Central regions are being downgraded to the Yellow Level at midnight tonight. Russell says the Saint John region will remain in the Orange Level for now:
Russell says another assessment for the Saint John region is expected to be done on Tuesday and Premier Higgs is hopeful the region could be downgraded to Yellow by the end of the week.
