NB Health Minister Dorothy Shephard

The provincial COVID vaccination program is gaining momentum. Health Minister Dorothy Shephard says another 6600-doses of vaccine are expected to arrive in the province next week. Shephard says over 5000-people have received their first dose of vaccine and that number will rise to 7500 by the end of the week. The minister also says the almost 1900-people who received their first dose of vaccine at the weekend clinic in Miramichi in December will receive their final dose this weekend.

The vaccination program is focused on top priority groups at the moment including front line healthcare workers – and – seniors in long term care facilities. Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – is hoping to have between 60 and 70-percent of New Brunswickers vaccinated by September.
