A long time community advocate is being honoured for her work. Monica Chaperlin has been named the recipient of the New Brunswick Adoption Foundation’s first annual Erminie Cohen Compassion Award.

The award recognizes individuals “who exemplify a similar passion and dedication that Erminie demonstrated for children without permanent families in New Brunswick.”

Among other activities – Chaperlin supported the YMCA in establishing the first early learning centre and the Family Resource Centre. She was also an advocate in bringing the model of First Steps Housing to the city offering at risk parents an opportunity to safely learn to be parents and receive their high school education within the facility.

The Foundation will host a Virtual Tea Party on March 21st to honour Cohen and recognize Chaperlin – and – raise awareness of the need of children in care for loving permanent families.
