The provincial Health Department’s 2021-22 budget includes money for new units at the Saint John Regional Hospital. The Department has committed 6.4 million dollars for work on a new medical and surgical intensive care unit – and – an oncology unit at the hospital.
The 3.07 billion dollar budget is a 150-million dollar increase from the previous year.
Other items in the budget include – 9.1 million dollars for the provincial vaccination program – 11.1 million dollars for physician recruitment – 3.5 million dollars to implement the inter-Departmental Addiction and Mental Health Action Plan – 900,000 dollars for the New Brunswick Palliative Care Strategy – and 1.6 million dollars to allow all paramedics certified as Advanced Care Paramedics to practice their full skills.
