Public Health says a “presumptive” case of a variant in the Miramichi region has been confirmed as the U-K variant by the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg.

And five new cases of COVID have been confirmed in the province since yesterday. One is in the Moncton region – a person in their twenties and is travel related. Three cases are in the Edmundston region and one is in the Miramichi area.

The number of active cases around the province stands at 36 none of them here in the Saint John region. Six people have recovered since yesterday. Two of the three people listed in hospital are in intensive care. The COVID death toll remains at 28.
