A jump in the daily COVID case count today. Public Health reports 8 new cases confirmed since yesterday. One case is here in the Saint John region – a person in their fifties and it is travel related.

There are 3 new cases in the Moncton region – two are contacts of a previously reported case while the other is travel related. There is one new case in the Fredericton River Valley region which is a contact of a previously reported case. And there are 3 new cases in the Edmundston region – one is travel related and the other two are contacts of previously reported cases.

Public Health reports two people have recovered since yesterday and the number of active cases is now 55 including the new case here in the Saint John region. Two people are in hospital while the COVID related death toll remains at 30.

Meantime – a positive case of COVID has been confirmed at Moncton High School – the is closed as contact tracing is carried out. In Edmundston – a possible exposure to a confirmed case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at Ecole Notre-Dame while a positive case has also been confirmed in a child care facility located at the school. Both the school and child care facility are closed until March 30th with students learning from home at this time. And a positive case of COVID has been confirmed at a separate child care facility in Edmundston – it has been closed until further notice.
