With Christmas just weeks away – Premier Blaine Higgs is hoping the southern part of the province can soon return to the Yellow phase with a relaxation of restrictions.
There are six new cases confirmed today – three here in the Saint John region including an employee of the Shannex Parkland complex who has been self-isolating – two in the Fredericton Central region – one in the Moncton region.
Another round of testing has been completed at the Shannex complex in Millidgeville – no additional residents tested positive. The employee on today’s list brings the total number of cases at the complex to 16 and more testing will be carried out over the next couple of days.
Meantime – Chief Medical Officer – Dr Jennifer Russell – says the outbreak in the Campbellton region is officially over. Russell says the status of the Moncton and Fredericton Central zones will be re-evaluated Sunday to see if they can be moved back to the Yellow phase:
Premier Higgs says now is not the time to relax if we want all areas including the Saint John region to have a Yellow Christmas:
There are 111-active cases in the province but no one is in hospital while approximately 1500-people are self-isolating.
