It has been a costly couple of nights for some people parking on city streets. A parking ban was declared Tuesday night in the north – east – and west areas of the city to allow crews to clear snow after the storm. However – parking enforcement handed out 111 tickets and 26 vehicles were towed for impeding snow clearing operations.

The total for last night’s parking ban in the south central peninsula area wasn’t a lot better – 74 tickets were issued and 19 vehicles towed for impeding snow clearing crews. That despite the fact there are six off street parking lots available in the south central area for use during parking bans.

A City Hall spokesperson says it is the responsibility of motorists to be informed and move their vehicles off the street when overnight parking bans are declared.
