A controversial proposal for a retirement community development along Sandy Point Road is back to Common Council tonight. Council has received recommendations from its Planning Advisory Committee following a public hearing on the Ethos Ridge proposal.
A city staff report based on the P-A-C report is recommending Council approve the required Municipal Plan Amendment with a number of conditions to address concerns raised by residents in the area. One of the conditions includes a 5 year “Sunset Clause” setting out a time line the development must be completed as proposed otherwise Council may revert the zoning to former land use.
The Ethos Ridge development would see 120 luxury retirement units constructed on a site at 2100 Sandy Point Road. The staff recommendations can be found in the Council package here.
