Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says we are at a critical turning point now in the battle against the COVID. Russell says with over 200-active cases – and – over 2000-people self-isolating at the moment – we may yet experience a surge in hospitalizations and deaths.
Currently we have 246-active cases in the province with 3-people in hospital and 12-COVID related deaths so far.
And Russell is worried about three cases under investigation at the moment which could be linked to community transmission. She says the challenges ahead are greater than any we have faced so far.
Russell says the majority of cases have been related to travel and not following guidelines for self-isolating and holiday gatherings.
