Another resident of an Edmundston nursing home in the midst of a COVID outbreak has died. Chief Medical Officer of Health – Dr Jennifer Russell – says the resident in their 80’s passed away due to health complications including COVID-19. So far there has been 86 confirmed cases at the nursing home. The latest death brings the total number of deaths to 24 since the beginning of the pandemic last March.

Public Health is also reporting three new cases since yesterday – one in the Moncton region with the other two in the Edmundston region. Currently there are 130 active cases around the province with six people in hospital – two in intensive care.

Russell says they will be re-assessing the situation in Edmundston in the coming days to see when it will be possible to move that region from the RED Level back to Orange with the rest of the province.
