COVID has claimed another New Brunswicker. Public Health says the latest death is a person in their seventies in the Edmundston region. The person was a resident of a special care home in Grand Falls dealing with an outbreak of the South African variant. The person passed away in hospital bringing the COVID death toll to 39.
Public Health is reporting 11 new cases today including 1 here in the Saint John region who is a contact of a previous case. There are 3 cases in the Moncton region with 2 contacts of a previously confirmed case while the other is under investigation.
There are 5 cases in the Edmundston region with all five contacts of a previously confirmed case. The Fredericton River Valley and Bathurst regions are reporting one new case each – both cases are travel related.
Public Health says 6 people have recovered since yesterday and the number of active cases is now 145. Six people are in hospital including two in intensive care.
